Our disposable gloves offer reliable protection and help to ensure optimal hygiene standards in medical and care settings.
MaiMed offers a wide range of nitrile, latex, vinyl and PE gloves in a variety of sizes, thicknesses and colours. To help you make the right choice, here is a brief overview of the properties, benefits and recommended uses of the different materials.
Nitrile: The versatile all-rounders among disposable gloves
Thanks to their versatile properties, nitrile gloves are the most popular disposable gloves in professional settings. They are free from latex proteins, making them ideal for people with latex allergies, and are also extremely comfortable to wear.

Perfect for colour-coding in the food industry, healthcare or laboratories.

Latex: Maximum elasticity and perfect fit
Latex gloves are renowned for their exceptional elasticity and their ability to mould to the shape of the hand. They allow for precise work and are particularly comfortable to wear, which is why they are highly valued, particularly in the field of dentistry.
In addition to our standard natural colours, we also offer latex gloves in black and yellow.

Information on latex allergies
Latex contains natural proteins that can trigger allergic reactions. If you experience symptoms such as skin redness, itching or blistering, we recommend switching to nitrile gloves.
Advantages of MaiMed latex gloves:
- Highly elastic and excellent fit
- Ideal for medical procedures requiring a high degree of precision, such as dentistry, surgery, etc.
- Extremly durable and hard-wearing
- Protection against mechanical risks such as abrasion or minor punctures

With powder or powder-free?
Which disposable gloves are the right choice?
MaiMed disposable gloves are mainly powder-free. We also offer powdered versions for specific applications.
Why are powdered disposable gloves hardly ever recommended these days?
Powdered disposable gloves are particularly easy to put on and take off, even with wet hands. This used to be a major advantage, before modern materials significantly improved their glide and fit. With the advancement of nitrile and latex technologies, powder-free gloves have increasingly taken over the market, as powdered versions pose various health and hygiene risks:
- When you take it off, the powder swirls into the air and can therefore be inhaled. This irritates the airways and mucous membranes.
- Latex gloves also significantly increase the risk of an allergic reaction: the powder binds latex proteins from the glove and releases them into the air when the gloves are removed. This can be particularly dangerous for people with a latex allergy and may trigger severe allergic reactions or cause anaphylactic shock.
- Furthermore, powder can cause significant soiling of surfaces, clothing and other materials.
- In hygiene-critical areas such as food processing, powdered gloves are problematic, as powder particles can get into products and compromise hygiene standards. For this reason, powder-free alternatives are used almost exclusively in these settings.

Note regarding powdered disposable gloves
We generally recommend using powder-free disposable gloves. These are gentler on the skin, more hygienic and meet all safety standards. Our trained specialists will be happy to advise you on selecting the best types of gloves for your industry and specific application.

Choosing the right size for disposable gloves.
To ensure a secure fit, high comfort and precision when working, it is essential to choose disposable gloves in the correct size. Gloves that are too small are more likely to tear when putting them on or taking them off and increase the risk of the material being stretched. Gloves that are too large, on the other hand, slip, impairing tactile sensitivity and grip.
Both of these issues slow down work processes and can significantly impair the quality of medical, nursing or technical tasks.
How to choose the right glove size.
The classic and most reliable method is to measure the circumference of your hand.
To do this, place a flexible tape measure around the widest part of your hand. Measure the circumference of your hand at the knuckles, excluding the thumb.
You can then check the glove size you have determined against our table and purchase the disposable gloves that suit you from us. The size range of the disposable gloves we offer may vary depending on the material and variant. Overall, we offer all sizes from XS to XXL in various designs.
Please note that latex, nitrile, vinyl and PE/TPE/LLDPE have different levels of elasticity, which means that the fit may vary depending on the material.
FAQ
When do I need sterile disposable gloves?
Sterile gloves are generally only necessary during medical procedures or in sterile environments, as these situations carry a high risk of infection. For most applications, non-sterile disposable gloves are perfectly adequate.
Can disposable gloves be disinfected?
The disinfection of disposable gloves in the healthcare sector is a controversial issue. In most cases, disposable gloves must be changed. According to the Commission for Hospital Hygiene and Infection Prevention (KRINKO) at the Robert Koch Institute, gloves may be disinfected in certain exceptional cases where changing disposable gloves is difficult to implement. These include, for example:
- Routine procedures carried out on the same patient.
- Blood samples taken one after the other from different patients, where further contamination is ruled out.
